Course description
In this lecture, students will learn the theoretical foundations of sociology of education. In addition, we will take up and examine various issues related to education, and finally proceed to consider the possibility of school education in 21st century society.
Purpose of class
In this lecture, we will consider education from a sociological point of view and deepen our understanding of educational issues and their backgrounds in modern society. The goal is for students to acquire the skills to think about education from a social perspective.
Goals and objectives
  1. 学校が現在の姿になるまでの歴史的な変遷過程を理解し、説明することができる
  2. 日本の学校教育制度と世界の学校教育制度を比較することを通して理解し、説明することができる
  3. 学校という場において形成される独特の文化について理解し、これまでの教育経験と照らし合わせて反省的に考察することができる
  4. 教育問題の見方と考え方を理解し、昨今の教育問題について、自分の意見をまとめることができる
  5. 他者と協同して作業を行うなかで、自らの教育に対する考え方を相対化し、広い視野で教育問題について考察することができる

Prerequisites
常に身の回りの教育問題などに目を配り、新聞やニュースなどをチェックすることが求められる。中間試験やプレゼンテーションでは、授業の内容の理解に加えて自分自身の視点からの考察も重視するので、日頃から教育に関して問題意識を持ち、自分の頭で考える姿勢が重要となる。
