This course deals with basic concepts of mechanics of materials, stress, strain, stress-strain relation. Firstly, the concepts
of stress and strain are introduced based on the equilibrium of force/moment and geometrically deformed object, respectively.
Then, the stress-strain relation is introduced. According to these fundamental concepts, this course deals with the equations
and formulae of stress/strain analysis for simple bar members and beams.

Designing machines and structures are need to ensure safety use based on analyses of stress/deformation of the objects. Mechanics
of materials has a important role for design by rule, and it is necessary technical knowledge for mechanical engineers.
