Course description
This lecture is an introductory lesson on architecture, cities and the environment.
Conduct an English commentary and a small workshop related to architecture, urban planning, environments and SDGs. Also, practice English conversation practice outside the school.
Purpose of class
Department of Planning, Architecture and Environmental Systems, which consists of three main research areas – architecture, urban planning and environment, aims to develop interdisciplinary and systems approaches to solving environmental and other urban issues society faces. This series of lectures provides an introduction to fundamental issues of environmental studies from various perspectives.
Goals and objectives
  1. Students can understand a basic level of methodology and framework of structural system engineering and the environment, urban environmental design, and environmental policy, as well as SDGs 17 goals.
  2. Students can learn interdisciplinary and systems approaches to solving SDGs issues, through listening to cases presented in the lectures and discussing them with the instructors and classmates.
  3. Japanese students can develop abilities of reading, writing, communication in English through writing an essay and participating in class activities.
