Course description
The purpose of this course is to acquire the basic concepts and methods of architectural planning and design, which were born out of modern social demands, and to understand the applied concepts and future challenges of architectural planning and design. In the class, we will start with an overview of planning ideas as a whole, sorting out what kind of planning methods have been seen in modern times. Next, students learn basic knowledge for organizing space, such as the concept of unit space and human body scales. In addition, students will learn how to plan for each type of building, such as detached houses, collective housing, schools, and museums, through specific examples. In addition, students will learn new planning methods based on recent resource conservation and consideration for the global environment.
Purpose of class
The purpose of this course is to learn the history, way of thinking, and practical examples of architectural planning and design, to acquire basic knowledge and methods of architectural planning and , and to learn contemporary ways of thinking and methods that apply those foundations.

Evaluation method and criteria
Evaluation is based on the total of several assignment reports or fieldwork reports (30%) and regular examinations (70%). A total score of 60% or higher is considered passing. If the attendance is less than 1/3 of the total number of classes, the student will be disqualified.
