1 Internship 2
Contact the supervisor and the graduate school.
Students will get practical training in planning, regulatory tests, administrative checks, preparation of design documents,
estimation, site supervision and examinations, under the supervision of first-class registered architects at an architectural
design firm or a construction company which carry our architectural designs and supervisions. Internship consists of pre-training
and reporting sessions at the university and on-the-job training.
There are 4 Internship programs, from Internship 1 to Internship 4, each of which consists of 1 unit of 2 weeks. Upon approval
of the completion of prescribed assignments, 2 credits will be awarded for each program. Period for taking these courses is
open. However, it is recommended to take all four courses around the same time. During internship, students are required to
do 8 hours of practical training and 1 hour of independent study (e.g. write reports, organize memos) per day, or 8 hours
of practical training on weekdays and approximately 5 hours of independent study on weekend. Completion of 1 unit of internship
will be determined upon submission of a final report (including a report in a prescribed format) and a presentation made at
a reporting session.
Students are required to participate in a pre-internship guidance including safety training.

Evaluation method and criteria
Since internship is a practical training course, 1 credit will be awarded for every 45 hours completed. As mentioned above,
during internship, students must complete 8 hours of practical training and 1 hour of independent study (e.g. write reports,
organize memos) per day, or 8 hours of practical training on weekdays and 5 hours of independent study on weekend.
(8+1) hours × 5 days = 45 hours or 8 hours × 5 days + 5 hours = 45 hours
1-week (5 days) training is equivalent to 1 credit. Therefore, the total of 2 weeks of practical training will be considered
1 unit and 2 credits will be awarded.
Internship is based on practical trainings. This means that there is no need to distinguish between on-campus and off-campus
internships. For example, if it is a joint project between teaching staff and external experts, it is acceptable to combine
3 days of on-campus design work and 2 days of off-campus supervision work. However, it is required to complete the abovementioned
hours as well as to meet requirements for written assignments.
※ Internship conducted without the instructor’s approval will not be considered internship and will not be graded.
