Course content
The global challenges of climate change and energy demands need new materials capable of managing clean energy and being environmentally friendly. The materials for energy and environment is a term used usually in the field of renewable energy, including the superconducting technologies, which are only indirectly related to global warming. The Master program offers a cutting-edge material-related program designed for graduates with multi-disciplinary skills. At the end of the course the students will master the basic principles of energy production and harvesting methods, energy production policy and related strategies, especially climate changes resulting from energy use, importance of superconducting applications, future energy alternatives, transportation, health care etc.
Purpose of class
The purpose of the course is to elucidate scientific principles of energy production, energy policy, air pollution importance of new applications, in particular superconducting technology, renewable energy and its importance. Students will be motived to develop and master new technologies.
Goals and objectives
  1. The students will provoke insightful thought processes in regards to energy and environment.
  2. The students will able to understand the mechanisms of heat transfer, new materials, a thermal solar collectors, residential space heating, storage of thermal energy, passive solar heating techniques etc.,
  3. The students will understand electric battery vehicles and their significance for the 21st century.
  4. The students will gain profound knowledge concerning energy conservation, government energy policies, smart grid, the efficient operation of new governmental projects, the viability of hybrid vehicles etc.,
  5. The students will comprehend the current status of energy usage throughout the world and make them value the prominent role of engineers for sustainable future.

Various designs of wind turbines, efficiency, and geographic distribution of wind energy, design of wind farms, offshore wind farms, utilization of wind energy worldwide, and new projects.

Learning the global warming and the greenhouse effect, possible impacts, possible actions, thermal pollution, etc.
