1 Basics of Engineering Science and Mechanics
Before starting the study of specialized subjects as a mechanical student, as a practical introduction subject, understand
the overall concept of mechanical functional engineering while learning the basics of system development. In recent years,
the academic fields handled by mechanical systems have become extremely wide, and it is required to acquire basic knowledge
in a wider range of fields. In addition, it is important to know the concept of dealing with contents such as each academic
field as a preparation for learning detailed knowledge of each field.
In this lecture, students will learn the basics of each field of mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, and software
engineering by conducting basic characteristic evaluation and function expansion competitions using boxer robots.
Understand the basics of engineering thinking methods using boxer robots as the subject. For example, the center of gravity
of a robot can be understood in high school physics. However, what does it mean to actually consider the center of gravity
of the robot in operating the system? How can I find the position of the center of gravity with an actual robot? Practice
thinking methods that utilize knowledge in engineering systems and deepen understanding. Among mechanical engineering, understand
the basics of mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, and software engineering that can be experienced at the boxer
robot expansion competition while touching the actual system. By engaging in competitions as a group, you will experience
the problem-solving process in system construction.
- Understand system development methods and their essential thinking methods.
- Learn the basics of the three basic engineering fields that consist of "Engineering Science and Mechanics", Mechanics, Electronics
and Software engineering.
- Using the function expansion of a boxer robot as an example, develop the ability to practice system construction while actual
tasks.

Evaluation method and criteria
The basic characterization report is 40%, the function expansion related documents are 60%, and a score of 60 or higher is
passed.
The evaluation of 60 points is a level at which the evaluation can be reported by understanding the basic development method
of the mechatronics system, realizing the target concept in cooperation with the team.
Feedback on exams, assignments, etc.
