Course description
As a follow-up to Civil Engineering Planning 1, this course teaches multiple regression analysis which is an approach to analyse issues, and the concept and calculation methods of cost-benefit analysis for the acceptability of a project.
Project evaluation based on objective methods is implemented as a means of ensuring efficiency and openness in public investment. In this subject, students learn the overview of project evaluation, which evaluates various project effects comprehensively, as well as the concept of cost-benefit analysis and methods for measuring benefits and costs, targeting effects that can be evaluated in monetary value. In addition, this course also teaches the methods of monetary valuation of environmental quality and other factors that cannot be evaluated through the market.
Purpose of class
In the first half of this course, as a continuation of Civil Engineering Planning 1, students learn regression analysis as a method for objective analysis of issues.
In the second half of class, students learn the overview and measurement methods of project evaluation, which comprehensively assesses the effects of various projects.
Goals and objectives
  1. Students can understand regression analysis techniques, which are frequently used in civil engineering planning data analysis.
  2. Students can understand the some methods for calculating benefits of project evaluation and carrying out a cost-benefit analysis.
  3. Students can understand the need for objective analysis in the implementation of infrastructure planning.
