Course description
To tackle future global challenges, this course provides an overview of the importance of social infrastructure for socio-economic development in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and introduces the roles and activities of Japanese industry, academia, and government in supporting the development and maintenance of social infrastructure overseas. Furthermore, to understand how the situation and issues of social infrastructure differ between regions, specific examples of social infrastructure and their challenges will be given for various countries.
Purpose of class
To understand the current situation and issues related to the development and maintenance of social infrastructure around the world, and to deepen interest in international development.
Goals and objectives
  1. Be able to explain the role of social infrastructure in international development
  2. Be able to discuss the development and maintenance of social infrastructure from international perspectives
  3. Be able to explain Japan's role in supporting the development and maintenance of social infrastructure in overseas countries
