Graduation Thesis 1

HORIE Ryota
Course description
Based on fundamental knowledge on communication engineering, students work on projects assigned by the professor. Students are supposed to join the discussion in the laboratory, to work on the assigned projects, and to write and present his or her graduation thesis.
Purpose of class
To acquire the ability to apply the fundamental knowledge that students have learned for the first three grades.
Goals and objectives
  1. Students can discover their own specialized issues with an inquisitive mind in response to social needs, and carry out everything from planning to problem solving.
  2. Students can create technical materials and reports, and effectively present and discuss them.
  3. Students can enhance their inquisitiveness by independently selecting subjects and working on them continuously.
  4. Students can formulate a plan for a subject that they have independently selected, manage the progress, and revise the plan as necessary to accomplish the task.

Research Content
Key technologies, system integration, and application of system of brain computer interface are studied. As the key technologies, bioinstrumentation of EEG and/or heart beats and their data analyses, and investigation of cognitive process and physiological phenomena of human are studied. As the system integration, devices for bioinstrumentation, smart devices, and control targets are integrated by communications technology (wireless and/or wired), interface circuits, and computational resources. As the application of system, control of life support systems, control of IoT devices, and entertainment systems are realized. In this Graduation Thesis 1, research problems are defined based on reviewing papers, methodology is selected, development environment are prepared, research plan is designed, and proposed systems or experimental systems are developed.
