Course description
Based on fundamental knowledge on communication engineering, students work on projects assigned by the professor. Students are supposed to join the discussion in the laboratory, to work on the assigned projects, and to write and present his or her graduation thesis.
Purpose of class
To acquire the ability to apply the fundamental knowledge that students have learned for the first three grades.
Goals and objectives
  1. Students can discover their own specialized issues with an inquisitive mind in response to social needs, and carry out everything from planning to problem solving.
  2. Students can create technical materials and reports, and effectively present and discuss them.
  3. Students can enhance their inquisitiveness by independently selecting subjects and working on them continuously.
  4. Students can formulate a plan for a subject that they have independently selected, manage the progress, and revise the plan as necessary to accomplish the task.

Research Content
Under the theme of "designing tools to support education and learning from an Informatics perspective," students investigate and design tools for future education and learning from an informatics perspective, based on an understanding of the social context surrounding education, such as the informatization (digital transformation, DX) of education and the shift to online education. Specific themes include the design and development of applications and tools to support education and learning, and the design and development of tools to support education and learning using gamification.

Evaluation method and criteria
"Daily activities" are evaluated by the tutoring professor. "Thesis presentation" is evaluated by all other professors based on designated evaluation guideline. Students can get the total score of 60% if they can achieve minimum level of evaluation guideline.
