Course content
Research and analysis are important parts of design work. Often, design work is regarded as artwork, focusing on deciding the colors and shapes of products. However, research plays a large role in deciding the direction of the product. This course gives students an understanding of oral, literary, and graphic log surveying based on ethnography in cultural anthropology.
Purpose of class
The purpose of this course is to learn ethnography techniques to organize not only the viewpoint of the manufacture but also the viewpoint of the user.

  1. Be able to explain ethnography
  2. Be able to write a fieldnote with sketch. (Fieldnote check)
  3. Be able to indicate the pros and cons of using DX tools for fieldwork. (Discussion, Peer review)
