Course content
The amount and variety of data in society has increased dramatically due to the increasing sophistication and affordability of computers and advances in information processing technology. Under such circumstances, it has become very important to understand the subject through data analysis, to represent the subject using models, to predict and forecast using simulations, and to solve problems using data and simulations, regardless of the field, such as economics, medicine, architecture, or the environment.

In this class, we will touch upon practical problem-solving methods utilizing data and simulation by unraveling the latest research cases in a wide range of fields using data analysis and simulation technology, and discuss how these results will affect society.

The class will focus on research and summarization of the given issues before class, followed by group discussion during the class.
Purpose of class
With data science as a keyword, we will investigate, understand, and share with each other how to utilize the data in various fields. We aim to develop analytical and predictive skills using numbers, which will be required in the future society.
Goals and objectives
  1. Understand and explain an overview of data science
  2. Understand and explain techniques used in data analysis and simulation
  3. Explain the use of data analysis and simulation in multiple domains
