Course content
Research on interaction technique with physical environments from the long term perspective of how to design the relationship between users and computers/information.
Students have to do all research phases including survey, finding issues, implementation, evaluation, writing papers, and making presentations.
Goals and objectives
  1. The students can explain research trends, research examples, and their background and discuss on them.
  2. The students can find and define the research issues on physically augmented interaction by himself/herself.
  3. The students can propose the solutions, implement prototypes, and evaluate them for the research issues.

Class schedule
The students obtain wide and deep knowledge and perspective through research survey and discussion.
The students find and define the research issue with continuous prototyping and discussion.
The students propose the solution, implement the prototype, and evaluate the technique.
The students finally aim to make presentations in academic conferences.
Evaluation method and criteria
Evaluation is based on the student's attitude for research and research output.
The criteria for obtaining 60% (to pass) is that the student conducts survey and investigation to define the research issue on him/her own, and has knowledge and skills to propose and implement the solution.

Read several research papers, e.g. CHI and UIST paper.
