Combustion Engineering / Exercise 1

SAITO Hiroyasu
Course content
Combustion, which is dealt with in this class, is a phenomenon of heat and mass transfer (thermal fluid) that accompanies a chemical reaction. Combustion is a phenomenon with strong non-linearity, and it is indispensable to grasp the phenomenon by experiments in order to construct a mathematical model, verify basic equations, and elucidate the combustion mechanism.

In this research, we aim to clarify the dynamics of combustion by making full use of experiments and numerical simulations, to realize better combustion methods and fire extinguishing methods, and to establish explosion safety technology. The specific themes are as follows.

- High efficiency, low pollution combustion method
- Development of hydrogen explosion safety and explosion mitigation system
- Combustion technology for decarbonization
- Creation of fire extinguishing method using high-viscosity fluid
- Liquid atomization research

You will challenge these issues, improve your problem-solving ability, and widely disseminate research results.
Goals and objectives
  1. To be able to understand the background and significance of research through literature surveys and field surveys, and to find problems to be solved.
  2. To be able to approach unknown phenomena, and find solutions to problems and new findings by experiments, numerical and theoretical considerations.
  3. To be able to publish the results of research in the form of papers and conference presentations and return them to society.
