Course description

The aim of this course is to develop the students’ ability to understand and use basic vocabulary and expressions commonly used in engineering fields. Students will learn how to express quantities, shapes, measurements, movements, functions, cause and effect relationship etc. They will also practice reading with contents related to their majors to enhance their skills for reading engineering papers and texts in English. In addition, the course aims to develop students’ skills for expressing engineering-related contents logically and clearly, and to lead them to the ability to write an engineering paper in English. The course will focus on practices and exercises, and require review assignments and quizzes.

To be able to express content clearly and logically using basic vocabulary/expressions in engineering fields.
To be able to understand reading passages of engineering related contents.

More than 4 Short Tests will be given in either case.
Mid-semester test：30%

A score of 60% is needed to pass this course.
Students can expect to obtain more than 60 points if their performance on tests and assignments shows that they have mostly comprehended the learning contents of the course.
