Course description
This course deals with basic concepts and principles of mechanical design and drawing.
Design is one of creating work in the engineering field. Drawing is used at a making site of industrial good, and making a part is advanced with the directions. Therefore, drawing is the one like a word of everyone commonness to which easiness expressed designer's aim clearly faithfully and moreover most also is equivalent to a making guide book to a manufacturer.
Such drawing is the one which illustrated the shape, the size, the data, the machining method and the structure by using line, character and symbol. And we have to draw according to follow JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards).
We will focus on actual drawing manner, as well as theoretical foundation of drawing.
Purpose of class
Since the drawing is equal to a word for an engineer, and if there is not enough understanding ability of drawing, an engineer has some problem in daily business. An abundant spatial imagination and a close operational way are needed to write and read a drawing. The purpose of this course is to help student’s master the basic ability with drawing and design, including how to draw in order to make easy understand to an operator of machining.
Goals and objectives
  1. It's possible to understand third angle projection and draw an simple mechanical parts accordingly.
  2. It's possible to understand an easy mechanical drawing.
  3. It can be understood between the 3rd angle modelling of the product and the drawing.

Evaluation method and criteria
Every drawings must be finished till appointed time and date and oral exam related drawing method must be cleared at least 60 points out of 100. Then, your final grade will be calculated according to the following process: every drawings 80%, oral exam 20%. To pass students must earn 60% out of 100%
You can earn 60% if the usage of line and dimensioning are correctly
In addition, you can earn 80% if the selection of the section plane with number of plain and indication of machining method are correctly
