Course description
In starting the four-year study in the Chemistry and Bioengineering Course, this class will give you notes on taking courses, the history of Shibaura Institute of Technology, how to write scientific sentences, and an overview of the Environment and Materials Engineering Course, which constitutes the same program as the Chemistry and Bioengineering Course. You can also get information on how to use the library, the career-supporting team, and other facilities and support systems that will be needed in future university life.
In this class, we will tackle "unanswered" issues given by senior members of society working in companies, conduct surveys, discuss within the group, summarize the results, and present them (project-based learning, PBL). Through this activity, we will strengthen the basic interpersonal skills and problem-finding / problem-solving abilities necessary for team activities, learn the meaning of "working", and set future goals. And you will finally clarify what you should study and learn at university to achieve that goal.
By the end of this class, we aim to create an image and a plan for university life for the next four years.
Purpose of class
The purpose of this class is to give various hints so that everyone who wants to realize their dreams as a member of society and as an engineer after graduating from university can lead a fulfilling university life toward that goal.
In particular, we are aiming for the following:
1. Draw a dream and set a goal.
2. Know the meaning of working and clarify your view of the profession.
3. Find your own challenges and strengthen your learning skills.
4. Acquire the ability to live independently in society necessary to work in society in the future after graduation.
Goals and objectives
  1. You have the necessary abilities working in society, such as problem-solving ability under given constraints, ingenuity, and cooperation within the group.
  2. You can use the Internet and libraries to acquire knowledge and use that knowledge to solve problems.
  3. You know the meaning of "working" and understand what to study and what to acquire in order to play an active role in society.
Relationship between 'Goals and Objectives' and 'Course Outcomes'

Evaluation method and criteria
The reaction sheet or the task submitted occasionally will be used to evaluate whether or not you are actively participating in the lesson and learning a lot from the lesson.
For problem-solving PBL, evaluation points are given by summing the evaluations of the presentation by the other teams and companies and the self-evaluation and mutual evaluation of the degree of contribution to team activities.
A maximum of 100 points will be passed with a score of 60 or higher.
