Synthetic Organic Chemistry

KIDOWAKI Masatoshi
Course description
Lecture on various organic reactions and reagents
Lecture on the synthetic pathway (retro-synthesis) for preparation of various organic compounds such as organic functional materials
Lecture on the stereospecific reaction
Lecture on the chemistry of amine and heterocyclic compounds
Purpose of class
Many organic compounds such as pharmaceutical chemicals, agricultural chemicals, and electronic materials have been prepared through synthetic organic reactions. The purposes of this class are understanding basic organic reactions, reagents, and retro-synthesis analysis for efficient preparation of various organic compounds.
Goals and objectives
  1. Understanding of basic C-C bond forming reactions (Schedule 1-7)
  2. Understanding of the functionalization of aromatic compounds (Schedule 8-10)
  3. Understanding on the functionalization of various organic compounds through oxidation and reduction (Schedule 11-12)
  4. Understanding of amine and heterocyclic compounds chemistry (Schedule 13)
  5. Understanding of synthetic scheme (Schedule 14)
