Course description
In Electric Circuit 1A, students will learn the following basic matters of DC and AC circuits, which are the fundamentals of electric circuits.
(1) Basic laws and theorems in DC circuits and methods of analyzing circuit networks
(2) Instantaneous value indication and calculation methods using complex vector representation in AC circuits
Purpose of class
Electric circuits, together with electromagnetism, are one of the most important basic subjects for those studying electrical engineering. Electric Circuits 1 is one of the most fundamental subjects in this course. The objective of this course is to understand the basics of electrical phenomena, important laws, theorems, and formulas related to electric circuits, and to be able to apply them to basic problems.
Goals and objectives
  1. Understand theorems and laws in DC circuits and solve DC networks.
  2. Understand complex vector representation of AC circuits and be able to calculate and draw them.
  3. Solve series, parallel, and series-parallel circuits of AC circuits using complex vectors.

Evaluation method and criteria
Evaluation will be based on exercises, quizzes, and a final exam.
A quiz will be given at the beginning of each lecture (If a student fails to take the quiz, he/she will receive zero points for that session. (However, if there is a valid reason for not taking the quiz, it will not be counted as a quiz.)
The total score will be calculated based on the ratio of 30% for the quiz, 20% for the exercises, and 50% for the final examination, out of a maximum score of 100 points, and a score of 60 points or higher will be considered as passing.
A score of 60 points means 60% of the achievement rate in the achievement objectives 1, 2, and 3.
