Course description
Semiconductor devices such as integrated circuits and photonic devices permeate every aspect of our present day lives. This course introduces the basic concepts of the fundamental operation of the semiconductor devices. Topics to be discussed include semiconductor materials, basic device physics, p-n junctions and bipolar transistors.
Purpose of class
This course should provide the students with a basic understanding of the semiconductor physics and principles of operation of the most important semiconductor devices in modern microelectronics and photonics.
