Course description
This seminar gives overviews of technologies' social and/or human aspects, including information and communication technologies. Students consider how technology relates to society through discussion. Students in this course will also develop skills in research work, and they will research topics of their specialties.
Purpose of class
Students understand how technology relates to society through discussion. Students in this course will develop basic abilities and skills in research work according to their specialties. Students also develop abilities to deliver their research achievements to others through written and oral communication.
Goals and objectives
  1. Students will develop skills in gathering and analyzing information for research works from a social scientific view point.
  2. Students will develop the problem solving ability by selecting relevant method through discussion in this course.
  3. Students will develop the problem solving ability through report writing, presentation.

Evaluation method and criteria
As all students are expected to contribute to this seminar, they should attend all classes.
Reports (up to 3) are evaluated.
Evaluation: understanding -- 80%, comprehensive --100%
Students must earn at least 60 points out of 100 to pass the course.
Students can score 60 points or more when they can state their opinions about topics discussed in class in assignments, discussions, and reports.
