Course description
Students acquire the ability to resolve technical issues by recognizing the role of electrical and robotics in domestic and international society accurately, understanding the technological needs of today's society, and reflecting these to the manufacturing.
Specifically, students acquire the ability to understand society's needs and discover issues on their own interest through highly specialized and international issues in the fields of electrical engineering and robotics.
In addition, by experiencing the entire process from design to production and evaluation, and collaborating with overseas students as necessary, students develop their design abilities, inquisitiveness, and global abilities.
Under the instruction of the supervisor, students will set a theme of issues and experience solving that problem.
Purpose of class
Students will deepen their specialized knowledge regarding their own research topic, improve the basic behavioral skills necessary to proceed with research, and develop abilities that will lead to graduation research 3 and 4.
Goals and objectives
  1. Be able to grasp the needs of domestic and international society.
  2. Be able to discover issues on their own that meet the needs of domestic and international society and set these as specific themes.
  3. Through conceptual design and subsequent detailed design, students can explain the process of technical solutions, including manufacturing and evaluation, and solve problems.
  4. Be able to design and document electrical engineering and robotics technologies and engineer ethics.

Evaluation method and criteria
Under the instruction of the supervisor, the stundents set a theme of issue, experience solving the problem, and present what you have learned at the final presentation. The evaluation is determined by averaging the evaluation scores of multiple professors.
A score of 60 or above is required to pass the course.

Research on field robot field focusing on autonomous mobile robots

Examples of the research theme are as follows;
1) Wide-area 3D environmental map building using RTK-GNSS and 3D LiDAR
2) Operation support system for snow removal and snow pressure vehicles
3) Unmanned lawn mower "HerbF" for golf courses
4) Semi-autonomous Flight for Jet Spraying Drones to Inspect and Repair Structures
5) Autonomous mobile robots in the Tsukuba Challenge (urban area)
6) Object detection using Deep Learning
