Course description
Measurements of biological structures and functions are important and necessary to understand biological phenomena and life activities. In addition, an understanding of the measurement principles and measurement objects is important for the use of biomedical measurement technologies where various sensors and instruments are used. This course deals with the basic concepts and principles of biomedical measurements through lectures and some simple experiments. In the second part of the course, students work in small groups to investigate and present a biomedical measurement technique or medical device.
Purpose of class
To increase the knowledge of biological characteristics and measurement principles in order to utilise biomedical measurement technologies.
Goals and objectives
  1. Be able to explain the basic concepts of biological phenomena and measurements.
  2. Be able to explain the working principles of sensors and measurement equipment.
  3. Be able to lead a conclusion through basic analyses of measurement data
  4. Be able to survey the principles and applications of a biomedical measurements on their own initiative.
