Course description
We will learn about the problems of the declining population, falling birthrates, and an aging society, which continue to grow serious in Japan, and how society should respond, as well as how to create and use the environment and architecture, from both software and hardware perspectives, using examples from Japan and abroad. In the first half of the course, the theme is "Universal Design" from the occupant's point of view, and in the second half, the theme is "Sustainable Design" from the architectural point of view, with "Universality " and " Longevity " as keywords. By the end, students will make presentations on solutions to problems using what they learned through the course.
Purpose of class
To understand the various social issues surrounding architecture, and to learn knowledge and techniques related to universal design and sustainable design, which are essential for the future of architecture.
