Course content
The overseas research project is a unique opportunity offered to the students in the Global Engineering and Science Course to engage in an internship project in their field of specialization at research institutions or companies in Japan and around the world. In this project, you will, with the help of your supervisor, find an appropriate overseas laboratory in which you will deepen your knowledge in your field of study.
Purpose of class
The purpose of the project is to nurture global engineers and researchers who have the capabilities to solve current technological challenges in cooperation with foreign engineers and researchers. It also gives you an opportunity to enhance your English communication skills and help you to exchange ideas on the global stage.
Goals and objectives
  1. The students will acquire skills of discovering and solving technological challenges in cooperation with foreign engineers and researchers.
  2. The students will be able to gain meta-national experience, understand different cultures and economic factors that shape societies.
  3. The students will be able to understand the advantages of your own country and ability to act from a global perspective.

1. Overview of overseas research project. Project goals are explained by your supervisor. Look for the prospective internship host. For Japanese students host should be abroad and for international students host should be in Japan 250minutes
2. Students plan their overseas research project with the help of supervisors. Work on proposal and administrative procedures. Contact Graduate School Section to understand financial support being offered in a given academic year. 300minutes
3. Compilation and application of overseas research project proposal. Prepare internship research proposal and send it to the teacher in charge for approval by the end of June. 300minutes
4. Travel and visa arrangements for the overseas research project. Prepare documents for travel scholarship. Prepare necessary documents. 300minutes
5. Research at host institution: the first week. Send weekly reports to the teacher in charge and your supervisor. Report due time is each Monday of your internship. 90minutes
6. Research at host institution: the second week. Send weekly reports to the teacher in charge and your supervisor. Report due time is each Monday of your internship. 90minutes
7. Research at host institution: the third week. Send weekly reports to the teacher in charge and your supervisor. Report due time is each Monday of your internship. 90minutes

Evaluation method and criteria
Teacher in charge evaluates your internship research plan, weekly reports, and final presentation.
Designated forms are stored in scomb portal.
Students need at least 60% of the full score to pass this course.
