AZHAM ZULKHARNAIN
Course content
Advanced Microbiology course delves deeper into the complexities of microbial life, building upon foundational microbiology knowledge. This includes in-depth studies of gene regulation, horizontal gene transfer, and the application of molecular techniques in microbial research. This course will cover the following topics:
1) Microbial Physiology and Metabolism
2) Microbial Ecology
3) Advances in Microbial Biotechnology
Purpose of class
Understanding microbiology is crucial for addressing many of the challenges facing our world. Microbes are model organisms for studying fundamental biological processes, such as genetics, metabolism, and evolution. Advanced Microbiology course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the microbial world, preparing them for careers in research, academia, industry.
Goals and objectives
  1. Explore diverse metabolic pathways, adaptations to extreme environments, and the biochemical processes that drive microbial life.
  2. Examine microbial interactions within ecosystems, including biofilms, biogeochemical cycling, and the role of microbes in environmental processes.
  3. Understand the latest research and advancements in the field.
