Course content
In recent years, the integration of human emotions with technological advancements has become increasingly important. As the digital landscape evolves, there is a growing need to develop technologies that can understand, respond to, and influence human emotions effectively. Affective Computing focuses on the human aspect, striving to interpret and respond to emotional states, while Affective/Kansei Engineering emphasizes the emotional impact of products and services on users. The establishment of "Affective Technologies" seeks to bridge these two disciplines, creating a holistic approach that leverages both human-centered and product-centered knowledge, aiming to produce innovative technologies and applications that enhance user experience, satisfaction, and overall well-being by considering emotional responses throughout the design and development process. The course aims to cultivate research skills through advanced research areas include but not limited to:

1) Human Behavior Recognition and Analysis: This topic focuses on developing and applying data science techniques to detect and classify human emotions and behaviors from multimodal data sources for a comprehensive understanding of emotional and behavioral states.
2) Design Principles for Emotional Impact: This area explores principles and methodologies for development of products and services that evoke specific emotional responses.
3) Affective Technologies in Practice: This topic covers the real-world implementation of affective technologies across various fields, including mental health, education, entertainment, and human-computer interaction, which emphasizes the development of emotionally intelligent systems and devices that enhance user experience and well-being.
