Cognitive Engineering /Exercise1

This course focuses on the discipline called cognitive engineering that is concerned with cognitive aspects of human in various domains. Students are required to conduct a series of research on human mental mechanism, cognitive tasks, human interface design and evaluation and so forth.

1. To understand human characteristics during mental tasks.
2. To understand typical approaches/methodologies used in the field of cognitive engineering.
3. To conduct cognitive engineering research.

Japanese

Students are required to obtain rich knowledge relating to cognitive engineering by reading academic journal papers in English. Based on the knowledge, possible research topics and corresponding research approaches are discussed. Each student carries out a series of research relating to human mental mechanism, cognitive tasks, human interface design and evaluation and so forth.

Final grades will be calculated according to the following process:
Content and contribution of the presentation in classes (50%), quality of research outcome and presentation at academic conferences (50%).

Instructions will be given according to the research topic.

Students should have learned about cognitive ergonomics and its relating domains in class or by themselves.
