Measurement Engineering

OKU Takanori
Course description
Measurement systems play an important role in a wide range of fields, including controlling robots and mechatronic devices, as well as ensuring the quality of industrial products. In this lecture, we will first learn about the SI unit system and explain the concept of error, which is fundamental to measurement. We will then discuss the principles behind measuring various physical quantities and study the sensors that make up measurement systems.
Purpose of class
Gain a comprehensive understanding of both mechanical and electrical measurement methods and learn how to measure various physical quantities.
Goals and objectives
  1. Students understand the fundamentals of measurement and be able to handle units and significant figures correctly.
  2. Students can explain the principles behind measuring various physical quantities.
  3. Students can explain the operating principles of various sensors.
