Course description
This lecture focuses on the movement of teachers to address various problems in the school setting and to educate children in a safe and secure environment. It is also to let students who want to become teachers know how a subject is taught.
Purpose of class
This course is the foundation for the teaching-related courses taught over the next four years. The lecture will cover various topics, including the significance and history of school education and the teaching profession, teacher organization, and culture. The lecture will provide students with knowledge that will be a foundation for acquiring the qualities required for the teaching profession.
Goals and objectives
  1. Understand the structure of becoming a teacher, be prepared to take a teaching course, and plan for future study in college.
  2. Historical discussion of the significance of schooling and the teaching profession and an understanding of issues related to schooling and teachers up to the present day.
  3. To be able to consider the qualities and abilities required of teachers in the future by examining contemporary school organizations and the duties of teachers and considering the social mission and role of teachers.
  4. To be able to reflect objectively on one's own educational experiences throughout the lecture and to think about one's future goals as a teacher and life as a teacher.

The overall evaluation will consist of 15% for each report, 15% for today's review questions, and 70% for the final exam.
A score of 60 or more out of 100 points is required to pass the course.

It is desirable for students to have a copy of the junior high school Courses of Study (Mombukagakusho, December, 2009) for their main subject.
It is desirable to have a copy of the Explanatory Guide to the Courses of Study for Senior High Schools (published by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in March 2008) for the main subject of the student's choice.
