Exploration of Design and Engineering Fields

ASHIZAWA Yusuke
Course description
In modern research and development, a cross-disciplinary perspective is increasingly required. This need extends to design engineering, where activities based on such perspectives are essential.
This course aims to enhance creativity and problem-solving abilities in research and development by broadly exploring academic fields related to design engineering.
The course is primarily conducted through group work, where students watch on-demand videos in advance and engage in group discussions to deepen their understanding of each topic.
Purpose of class
To gain knowledge of various academic fields related to design engineering and develop a cross-disciplinary perspective for integrated problem-solving.
Goals and objectives
  1. To be able to explain the overview of various fields related to design engineering.
  2. To be able to explain and discuss, with concrete examples, the current challenges faced in various fields related to design engineering.
  3. To be able to discuss the role of design engineering within society, identify its objectives, and develop strategic plans accordingly.

Evaluation method and criteria
"For each assignment, is scored as S, A, B, and F, and 10 points are assigned for S, 8 points for A, 6 points for B, and 0 points for F. Each assignment is weighted, and the final total score is evaluated based on the percentage of the total score obtained, and the final score will be evaluated based on the percentage they got. Credit will be given if they got over 60% score compared with full.
The evaluation method will be revised as necessary depending on the situation. Any revisions will be explained in class."
