Course description
Mechanical drawing is a common language for mechanical systems. It is necessary to be able to accurately communicate the design intent with others through the drawings. In Survey of Machine Engineering 1, students will learn the rules of JIS-compliant mechanical drafting, and students will be able to understand the mechanical drafting accurately and draw the basic shape as an accurate mechanical drafting.
Purpose of class
The goal is to achieve the following three points for the shaft system, bearings, and transmission devices, which are important mechanical elements in mechanical design.
(1) To be able to understand the principle of each machine element and be able to give a brief explanation about its function.
(2) To be able to understand the basic mechanical drawing methods for each mechanical element.
(3) To be able to understand the function of each mechanical element and be able to draw mechanical drawings.
Goals and objectives
  1. To be able to understand the principle of each machine element and be able to give a brief explanation about its function.
  2. To be able to understand the basic mechanical drawing methods for each mechanical element.
  3. To be able to understand the function of each mechanical element and be able to draw mechanical drawings.

Textbooks and reference materials
・ Textbook: "New JIS Mechanical Drawings" Takeo Yoshizawa, Morikita Publishing Co., Ltd.

・ Textbook of Mechanical Engineering 1
Prerequisites
It is recommended that students review the detail of Mechanical Engineering 1, the basics of machine elements, and material mechanics.
Office hours and How to contact professors for questions
  • Questions will be accepted during the lunch break on Monday or after the lecture. If you wish to have a lunch break, make an appointment by e-mail in advance. I get questions by e-mail, but since it is difficult to answer by e-mail for drafting, I basically ask questions by face to face.
