Course description
Most machines these days are computer-controlled, and the performance of the machines themselves has been improved. With the development of electronics and digital technology centered on computers, it has become possible for machines to operate in fine detail. Such technology is called mechatronics. In the future, machines, as represented by robots, will continue to improve their performance according to their applications.
In this course, students will learn what mechatronics is and the basic elemental technologies and systems that form the core of mechatronics. In addition, students will learn the process from problem discovery to concept proposal based on design thinking in order to create new products including mechatronics.
Purpose of class
 In this class, students learn how computers, sensors, electric circuits, and actuators work.
In addition, they learn how to systemize mechanical, electrical and control engineering, and acquire methods to realize the desired machine.
Then, students will experience a series of processes from problem discovery to concept proposal to cultivate creativity and originality.
Goals and objectives
  1. Be able to explain in detail the name and characteristics of each basic element of mechatronics.
  2. Can select appropriate elements for mechatronics according to the required specifications. Also, be able to propose and design an outline of the system.
  3. Able to identify problems and propose novel equipment and tools to solve them.

Evaluation method and criteria
The midterm and final exams will each count for 40% and 60% of the total grade.
If the total score is 100%, then a grade of 60% or above is considered a pass.
