Electrical Machinery

SAITOU Makoto
Course description
Electrical machinery can be classified to motors (or generators) and transformers. Motors convert electrical energy to mechanical energy , and in generators mechanical energy is converted to electrical energy. In transformers, electrical energy is converted to electrical energy with different voltage. In each conversion, magnetic energy plays the mediation role. Thus, the leaning in Fundamentals of Electrical Machinery & Apparatus 1 have been theories based on the energy conversion. In this course, the principle, structures and characteristics based on the equivalent circuits of the electrical machinery can be chiefly learnt
Purpose of class
The purpose of the class is to acquire the principle, structures and characteristics of transformer, induction machine, synchronous machine, DC machine.
Goals and objectives
  1. Being able to explain principle, structures and characteristics of DC machine, and calculate the characteristics using the equivalent circuit.
  2. Being able to explain principle, structures and characteristics of transformer, and calculate the characteristics using the equivalent circuit.
  3. Being able to explain principle, structures and characteristics of induction machine, and calculate the characteristics using the equivalent circuit.
  4. Being able to explain principle, structures and characteristics of synchronous machine, and calculate the characteristics using the equivalent circuit.
