Course description
Electronics have been penetrated in our modern life. Various chemical bonds of atoms, due to electrons, form various materials, and their properties. In this class, students will learn the applications of the various properties of materials to electronics. The understandings of various properties of materials are required to analyses of advanced electronic apparatus and device. The contents of this class are subsequent from Introduction to Solid State Physics, and students will learn various properties of metals, semiconductors, dielectrics, and magnetic materials.
Purpose of class
The purpose of this class is to understand various properties of materials used for electronic components based on the nature of electron.
Goals and objectives
  1. Students are able to explain the electrical properties of metals.
  2. Students are able to explain the physical phenomena in semiconductors.
  3. Students are able to explain the properties of dielectrics.
  4. Students are able to explain the properties of magnetic materials.
