Course description
In this course, students will acquire the elementary knowledge of information and communications engineering through "making things" of hardware.
In the hardware practice of this course, students actually make a basic circuit and learn knowledge about the parts being used, how to use measurement instruments such as oscilloscope and function generator, how to use the equipment such as power supply and so on.
Purpose of class
In the hardware practice, through basic electronic circuit fabrication and checking its operation with groupworks, learn basic knowledge of parts to be used and how to use the equipment such as oscilloscope, function generator, power supply.
Goals and objectives
  1. it is possible to understand the functions of measuring instruments such as oscilloscopes and handle them correctly.
  2. It is possible to understand the functions and operating principles of the components used in electronic circuits, which are fundamental concepts common to information and communication engineering, and to correctly acquire and analyze data.
  3. Students are able to demonstrate teamwork and take ownership of their role when working in a group on a given measurement task.

Evaluation method and criteria
-Twice or more absence is considered to abandonment.
- It is possible to acquire more than 60 points by executing each experiment without fail, completing the circuit, submitting the report for all classes.
- Fabricated circuit (10%) , submitted reports (70%) , and examination (20%) are evaluated. full score is 100points.

Textbooks and reference materials
In the hardware practice, texts (including report assignments) and presentation materials in each class will be uploaded on the Scomb by the day before the class.
Students have to prepare (print (*) and check in advance) and bring them class.
(*) Please check SIC (Scholarly Information Center) webpage how to use printers from the PCs on the campus. Monochrome print is enough (though the materials are colored).
Prerequisites
Scientific electronic calculator should be prepared.
