Course description
In recent years, there have been remarkable developments in medical electronics and biological engineering, which support the fields of medicine and biology. This lecture deals with electrical phenomena in the body, methods for measuring biological micro-signals, collection and analysis of biological information, diagnostic imaging equipment, and therapeutic devices. Engineering explanations will be the main focus, but medical and physiological explanations will also be included.
Purpose of class
The students will be able to acquire knowledge of electronics measurement and treatment techniques in the medical and biological fields, and to understand the complexity and sophistication of the structure and function of living organisms.
Goals and objectives
  1. The students will be able to explain the mechanisms of bioelectrical signal generation and their measurement methods. Corresponds to lesson plans 1-3 D
  2. The students will be able to explain measurement methods for physical quantities in living organisms. Corresponds to lesson plans 4-5 D
  3. The students will be able to explain how to analyze and measure chemical components of biological origin. Corresponds to lesson plans 7-8 D
  4. The students will be able to explain the principles and actual measuring instruments of medical imaging and treatment equipment. Corresponds to lesson plans 9-13 D

Evaluation method and criteria
[Evaluation method]
Quizzes related to achievement goals 1-4 (15 points) and specific questions related to achievement goals 1-2 will be given in the mid-term exam (40 points). Specific questions related to achievement objectives 3-4 will be asked in the final examination and will be evaluated (45 points). Students will pass the course if they score 60 or more points on the quiz, mid-term exam, and final exam.

[Evaluation criteria]
The passing grade (60 points) will be determined by the student's mastery of the knowledge of electronics measurement and treatment techniques in medical and biological sciences, together with an understanding of the complexity and sophistication of the structure and function of living organisms, through quizzes and mid-term and final examinations.
