Course description
This lecture aims to help students understand how teachers can educate children in a safe and secure environment, focusing on teachers' actions in response to various problems that arise in the school setting. In addition, this course will help students who are aiming to become teachers to understand how teachers' subject-specific instruction is carried out. This course is a compulsory subject for students who are enrolled in the university's teacher training program and who are aiming to obtain a teaching license. Students who are enrolled in the teacher training program must be sure to complete the course registration. Other students who are taking this course should have a strong interest in teaching.
Purpose of class
This lecture is positioned as the foundation for the teaching-related subjects that you will study over the next four years. The lecture will cover a wide range of topics, including the significance and history of school education and teaching, as well as teacher organizations and their cultures. It will help students to understand the knowledge that will form the basis for acquiring the qualities and abilities required of teachers.
Goals and objectives
  1. Students will be able to understand the system for becoming a teacher, and to think about their attitude towards taking teaching courses and their study plans for the future university life.
  2. Students will be able to consider the significance of school education and the teaching profession from a historical perspective, and understand the issues related to school education and teachers up to the present day.
  3. Students will be able to consider the social mission and role of teachers, and think about the qualities and abilities required of teachers in the future, by examining the organization of modern schools and the duties of teachers.
  4. Students will be able to objectively reflect on their own educational experiences throughout the lectures, and think about the image of the teacher they aim to become in the future and their life as a teacher.
