Course description
PBL is “Problem-Based Learning” or “Project Based Learning”, which is a training to collaboratively solve a problem with other members in a group. Global PBL is a PBL conducted in collaboration with partner universities, companies, and government agencies in Japan and abroad. In this program, participating students form project teams alongside students from partner universities to address challenges defined by the university, faculty members from partner institutions, as well as local and international corporations and government bodies.

Engaging in practical PBL-solving related to the field of electrical and electronic engineering (electric power and energy, system control and robot, nanoelectronics and photonics, information and bioelectronics), students operate in a diverse environment, communicating in English with peers from various backgrounds. This experience equips them with a range of essential skills, including effective information and opinion communication, a strong grasp of intercultural understanding, leadership capabilities, team organization skills, and proficiency in PBL-solving. Through English discussions with team members representing diverse backgrounds, students develop the multifaceted skills necessary for global engineers, encompassing effective information and opinion sharing, intercultural understanding, leadership capacity, team management, and PBL-solving proficiency.
Purpose of class
Through PBL-solving related to the field of electrical and electronic engineering (electric power and energy, system control and robot, nanoelectronics and photonics, information and bioelectronics) in a global environment, students are expected to acquire the ability to communicate relatively simple content information and their opinions to others, to understand relatively simple content information and opinions transmitted by others, and to actively exercise leadership.
Goals and objectives
  1. Be able to communicate simple information and own opinions to others in a global environment.
  2. Be able to accept simple information and opinions expressed by others in a global environment.
  3. Be able to solve the problem related to electrical and electronic engineering and to write a report of the project in a global environment.
  4. Be able to exercise leadership in a global environment.

Evaluation method and criteria
The students are totally evaluated by participating this gPBL, solving problems by colaborating with students from other country and making final presentation and report.
The activity of the students is evaluated by the daily progress report.
The results of the activity is evaluated by the final presentation and final report.
Daily progress report (30%), the final presentation (35%), and the final report (35%) are evaluated comprehensively.
The students must score at least 60 points or higher out of 100 to pass.
