Exercises in Regional Planning & Design 2

IWAKURA Seiji
Course description
This group regional planning exercise aims to allow students to consolidate their technical knowledge and understanding through practical application in the context of civil engineering as a planning process. The topics include city planning, transportation planning, and tourism planning. Specifically, each group will be assigned to target areas for planning or facilities for improvement. Students will identify the issues through field surveys and various data analysis, propose alternative development plans, conduct future demand analysis for the alternatives, examine the necessary future scales of the facilities, and conduct detailed facility design. Students will also make perspective drawings and models of proposed facility designs and deliver a final presentation.
Basically, this class is held face-to-face at the university, but you can also participate online. (It may be changed to online depending on the status of COVID-19 pandemic.)
The following lesson plan is for 14 lessons, but the lessons will be conducted 7 times (one time for 2 consecutive periods). The final presentation will be held on middle of December. There is a possibility that students will meet outside of class hours for discussions and fieldwork during times that do not affect other courses.
Purpose of class
Develop the practical skills related to regional planning including transportation planning.
