Chemical Reaction Engineering

YOSHIMI Yasuo
Course description
Reaction process design is one of the fundamental studies of chemical engineering. Students will learn the basic concepts of how to determine the reaction time in a batch reactor and the apparatus volume in a continuous reactor.
Purpose of class
Understand reaction engineering, acquire methods and concepts to determine the reaction time of a batch-type reaction, determine the volume of a continuous reactor, and optimize the design of a complex reaction from mass balance calculations.
Goals and objectives
  1. You can derive the basic equation for the reaction operation from the matter balance.
  2. You can design a simple reaction process.
  3. You can design a complex reaction, a slightly more complex reaction operation involving division of the equipment.
