1 Freshman thesis program II
Students will learn basic STEM skills (characterization techniques, and data collection and analyses etc.) and how to use
computer, software and research equipment to perform the research under the guidance of senior students in the laboratory.
In addition, students will acquire skills to use common software for word-processing and graphics and understand the importance
of information literacy. It is also important to follow the safety instruction to avoid any hazardous incidents during engineering
and science experiments. Finally, students will understand the effects and impact of engineering on society and nature, and
of engineers’ social responsibilities or engineering ethics.
The purposes of this course are to acquire skills to use computer, software and research equipment needed for conducting research,
and to understand effects and impact of engineering on society.

Evaluation method and criteria
More than 60% of the total score is needed for getting the course credit. The details will be explained by the supervisor.
"Daily activities" will be evaluated by the supervisor.
"Presentation in meeting" will be evaluated by the supervisor.
"Presentation at the end of the semester" will be evaluated by the supervisors and the reviewers.
