Course description
In Exploration of Engineering Research 2, students watch videos from different research laboratories within the College of Engineering to deepen their understanding of what each laboratory studies and how it connects to society. Out of more than 150 laboratories, students choose 10 laboratories that are not part of their own course to watch videos from, allowing them to explore cross-disciplinary research opportunities.
Purpose of class
By learning about the research laboratories within the College of Engineering, students can gain insights on cross-disciplinary research. Additionally, when students encounter obstacles in their own research, the videos they watch might provide solutions proposed in other laboratories. For students who are particularly interested, these videos can also be useful for selecting a research laboratory for the "Research Exchange on Campus 1" and "Research Exchange on Campus 2" subjects.
Goals and objectives
  1. Students can explain the research of laboratories within the College of Engineering.
  2. Students can distinguish and describe the different types of research being conducted in laboratories outside their own field.
  3. Students can develop a broad perspective with a focus on cross-disciplinary opportunities.
