Engineering Design and Drafting

OTANI Takuya

SHIROSE Keiichi
Course description
In this class, each student will design and draw a machine that satisfies the specifications given to them.
Since the design and drawing will be based on the knowledge and experience acquired in the first semester of the second year, it is necessary to have a thorough understanding of the lessons taught in the first semester of the second year.
There is nothing new to be taught in this class, but everything necessary for designing machines is written on the handouts.
This year's theme is "worm reducer". First, each student performs the necessary technical calculations by following the printed instructions.
Next, the assembly drawings are drawn based on the results of the technical calculations. After receiving a seal of approval from the instructor on the assembly drawing, draw the parts drawing.
The course ends when all parts drawings receive a seal of approval from the instructor.
By experiencing this series of steps, you will be able to acquire the procedures and basic skills for developing machines.
All drawings are hand-drawn. Please purchase your own tracing paper (A1, A2, A3, A4) at the co-op.
Purpose of class
Based on the knowledge acquired in classes such as mechanical materials, mechanics, processing engineering, mechanical engineering training, general mechanics, and strength of materials, students will acquire the ability to design mechanical devices composed of multiple parts.
Acquire the ability to draw designed mechanical devices based on the knowledge about JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) mechanical drafting rules and accuracy acquired in classes such as mechanical drafting and basic drafting.
Goals and objectives
  1. You will be able to perform technical calculations for design issues while considering materials, mechanisms, strength of materials, mechanical mechanics, processing methods, etc.
  2. You will be able to draw the assembly drawing of the designed machine device based on the rules of JIS machine drawing.
  3. You will be able to draw parts drawings based on geometrical tolerances, maximum physical tolerance methods, surface texture indication methods, and the latest drafting rules consistent with JIS and ISO.
