Course description
This exercise is a counterpart to the ‘Inventive and Creative Design’ course, and involves conception, basic planning, 3DCAD design, local parts purchasing and production in Southeast Asia. The exercise is conducted as an intensive workshop in Hanoi, Vietnam, where groups are formed with students from the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), and group work is conducted in English in the gPBL (globalProjectBasedLearning) style.
Purpose of class
The upstream processes of monozukuri has studied in the ‘Inventive and Creative Design’ course, i.e. the systems approach from basic planning to design, are applied to actual products. Students also are able to obtain global communication skills through gPBL in English.
Goals and objectives
  1. To be able to apply upstream design and manufacturing processes to actual production
  2. To be able to draw up BOMs according to the parts available
  3. To be able to use and produce the design tools learned
  4. To be able to acquire communication skills in English
