Course description
Electronic technology has widely been used for various electronic equipment including domestic appliances and microcontrollers. This course covers design and analysis of analog electronic circuits which considers active devices as well as passive devices. As an example, amplifiers are mainly addressed. Basic characteristics of amplifiers are first introduced and analysis of operational amplifier circuits is provided. It also addresses semiconductor devices which are building blocks of electronic circuits. Nonlinear circuits which consist of semiconductor devices are analyzed by expressing them as linear equivalent circuits.
Purpose of class
This course aims to help students understand the operation of analog electronic circuits and learn analysis and design methods. Especially, it provides students with knowledge and skills to analyze nonlinear systems by linear approximation.
Goals and objectives
  1. To explain characteristics of amplifiers
  2. To understand deference between ideal and integrated circuit operational amplifiers and analyze the application circuits of ideal operational amplifiers
  3. To explain operating principle of electronic circuit elements
  4. To express electronic circuit elements as theoretical models and equivalent circuits in consideration of constraints
  5. To analyze and design basic amplifier circuits using DC or Small-signal theoretical models and equivalent circuits
