In designing a machine, it is necessary to consider its performance, structure, mass, materials, energy efficiency, and other
factors. Therefore, mechanical engineers need to understand vibration phenomena, fully grasp their nature, and design mechanical
systems while taking such mechanical vibrations into account or improve the resulting vibration phenomena.
In this lecture, students will first review the basic mechanics and learn the fundamentals of vibration, including modeling of the object to be analyzed, harmonic vibration, and Fourier series, as the necessary knowledge for conducting vibration analysis. Next, in the vibration model of a one-degree-of-freedom system, vibration in the absence of external force (free vibration) and vibration under external force (forced vibration) are analytically obtained to understand their properties.
Most of the actual mechanical systems are multi-degree-of-freedom systems, which have multiple natural frequencies and vibration modes (forms of vibration) corresponding to them. In this course, students learn about damped and undamped forced vibration of multi-degree-of-freedom vibration systems, and learn the basics of considering vibration problems that arise in industrial products.
Students will also learn the fundamentals of mechanics necessary for designing mechanical elements.

The results of the mid-term examination (20%), the final examination (report) (30%), and assignments and other efforts (50%)
