Course description
The Soil Experiments class is designed to provide students with basic theory and practical laboratory techniques in geotechnical engineering and soil mechanics. Soils are very important materials in construction and geotechnical engineering, and an accurate understanding and evaluation of their properties is essential for safe construction projects. This course will focus on the basic methods of performing soil tests and interpreting the results.
Purpose of class
The primary objective of this course is to develop the student's ability to evaluate and understand the physical and mechanical properties of soils by acquiring basic laboratory techniques in geotechnical engineering and soil mechanics.
Goals and objectives
  1. Able to verify and analyze methods of measurement, the meaning and organization of data, and basic theory.
  2. Understand and apply what is used in actual construction sites and complement the content of the lectures.
  3. Submit reports and other documents on time and observe social discipline.

Evaluation method and criteria
Evaluation will be based on attendance at at least 80% of the experiments and practical training.
The grade will be based on the experiment reports and various submissions (100%), with 60 points or more being considered as passing.
A grade of "C" will be given if any of the experimental reports are not submitted, and a grade of "D" will be given if two or more reports are not submitted.
