Introduction to Electrical Engineering and Robotics Research

Electrical and robotics technologies today are developed based on fundamental mathematics and physics, as well as foundational knowledge in electrical engineering. In this course, we will provide an overview of practical technologies and the latest research, assuming a prerequisite understanding of the foundational theories and physics knowledge in the Electrical Engineering and Robotics course. We categorize the research areas in Electrical Engineering and Robotics into Power and Energy Systems, System Control and Robotics, and Electrical Materials and Devices, based on their applications in the industry. Students will learn important techniques and recent topics in these categories. Participants will choose several research areas of interest and explore technologies within those fields. By writing reports, they will explain the development background, relevant knowledge, and recent research trends related to the chosen technologies.

The objective is to acquire the following skills:
1) The ability to explain the social background and development history of important technologies in electrical engineering.
2) The ability to explain the principles and mechanisms of the chosen technology using foundational knowledge in electrical engineering.
3) The ability to describe recent research topics related to the chosen technology in one's own words.
This course aims to cultivate basic skills for setting one's research theme in preparation for graduation research.

1. Explain the social background and development history of important technologies in electrical engineering.
2. Explain the principles and mechanisms of important technologies in electrical engineering using foundational knowledge in the field.
3. Describe research related to important technologies in electrical engineering and recent research in the field.

Students are requested to select two themes in each category of Power and Energy Systems, System Control and Robotics, and Electrical Materials and Devices, and write six reports in total. Evaluation will be based on the submitted reports. To pass, students must earn a score of 60 points or higher.

It is desirable to have an understanding of fundamental mathematical subjects, informational subjects, and department subjects taken in the first year of the university.
